QUICK BOOK REVIEW: Handbook of Sample Preparation - Eds. Janusz Pawliszyn, Heather L. Lord

Handbook of Sample Preparation
Eds. Janusz Pawliszyn, Heather L. Lord
Wiley
QD 75.4 S24 H36 2010

 Strengths

1.       Comprehensive
2.       Descriptive of the theories behind sample preparation
3.       Well-written

Weaknesses

1.       Does not include treatment of dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME)
2.       Sometimes difficult to find methods set out clearly
3.       Separate articles by separate authors causes a small amount of topic overlap

As a chemist, I would use this book for

1.       Exploring analytical methods for a variety of mixtures
2.       Understanding what extractions do to samples and how sample matrices can affect extractions
